Description de la mission :
Description
This volunteering project aims to bring international perspective to the local youth work practices in Jönköping, and to enrich the existing activities and projects within Youth Department (Ung Fritid). The setting for the project will be youth centres in the municipality of Jönköping – an area with almost 150.000 inhabitants. The youth centres are working with children and youth from different age groups, but especially targeting those who are 10-19 years old. They offer both after-school and evening activities, depending on which age group the youth centre in question is targeting. We are looking to host 7 volunteers for 12 months, starting 1 September 2025. The volunteers will be a part of everyday youth work of three locations: 2 volunteers will contribute to the work of Birka youth center, 3 volunteers will be working in Stråga youth center, and 2 volunteers will be at Brunnen meeting point.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteers will be provided with a shared accommodation within student area of Jönköping, and will receive a public transport ticket. Each volunteer will have a room on their own. Volunteers will also receive money for food allowance and pocket money.
Training during the activity
During the project duration, the volunteers will get an insight into a common daily youth work within a youth centre in Jönköping. The volunteers will improve leadership and communication skills, and will also learn how to cooperate in groups with both colleagues and youth. Further on, the volunteers will get to learn basics of Swedish language, and will improve their cultural awareness and expression competence. Volunteers will also join on-arrival and mid-term training organized by MUCF.
