Assignment description :
VISA-AD “International Volunteering in the Service of Others” is a structure for sending, welcoming and supporting young volunteers motivated for social or educational services in France and abroad. Its role as a Union of Associations is to organize, recruit, monitor and train volunteers. We provide administrative support and advice to organizations so that missions are carried out in accordance with the ethics of Volunteering.
At L'Arche La Corolle in Switzerland, located near Geneva, you will participate in the support of adults with mental disabilities in their home and during leisure activities in their workshop.
Like every community in L'Arche, La Corolle wishes to make the world aware of the gift of people with intellectual disabilities. As a volunteer, you will thus be able to contribute to their development and create a shared living space where each person can feel 'at home'.
Your mission will take place in one of the 4 living homes and 3 workshops of L'Arche La Corolle in Switzerland, now welcoming 42 adults with intellectual disabilities.
With the support of the teaching team, you help with the support of:
-on the daily life of the people welcomed when they wake up, eat, or go to bed
-people in their socio-educational projects
-leisure activities offered at the home and the day center (workshops for small craft production (paper, fabric, wood), gardening, cooking
You will actively participate in the life of the house/workshop and contribute to creating a warm and welcoming place. You will thus be able to invest yourself in the various activities and live a strong human life experience with a team of professionals (educators, psychologists).
You will also contribute to team meetings, meetings with educators, seminars between volunteers and association events.
You will stay in the home in a furnished room financed by the host structure. Meals taken care of during mission time. You will benefit from mandatory PSC1 training, “civic and civic” preparation for departure and on-site training by L'Arche. You will be supervised by a professional team and supported in the construction of your future project.
