Assignment description :
Since 2014, the neo-Aquitaine association Cool'eurs du Monde has been coordinating WECCEE (“exchange” in Wolof, the most spoken language in Senegal), an international reciprocity volunteering project based on the Civic Service system. WECCEE is 6 months of commitment to international solidarity at the heart of intercultural encounters and projects that allow the sustainable development of our territories. WECCEE is a state of mind, an awakening of consciousness and the ability to act on injustices and for the improvement of our living conditions. It means working at each person's level, to develop as a free and responsible citizen living in a common society. WECCEE is an individual mission and the construction of a binational binomial project on a theme related to Citizenship and International Solidarity Education (ECSI) and responding to one or more Sustainable Development Goals. An opportunity to learn how to build a project, step by step. WECCEE is also the strength of a group: around fifty volunteers who share highlights (training, events) and promote the values of equality, mutual aid and transmission.
The Marine Protected Area (MPA) is managed by the Ministry of the Armed Forces to ensure the protection of the coastline, the census of aquatic species, mangrove plantations and the awareness of villagers. This mission depends on the Foundiougne Departmental Council in Senegal. The objective is to discover the protection of aquatic fauna and flora and to participate in activities in the marine area.
💁 Activities assigned to the volunteer:
- Discover the host structure, participate in the activities of the AMP and its partners
- Participate in activities such as the census of species, boat vigils against poaching, raising awareness among populations about sustainable development...
- Create and lead awareness-raising activities on the environment and sustainable development in the territory of Foundiougne (autonomous mission)
🚨 These missions are scalable. They will be readjusted to the structure and to the volunteer, once on site.
🛫 Round-trip transport costs, insurance, visa and accommodation covered by Cool'eurs du Monde. Cool'eurs du Monde is organizing 10 days of preparation for departure and training in animation tools (January) and 1 week of assessment (July). The volunteer has 2 people to support them: a tutor on site and a referent in France.
